23451 RE: Lynnhaven Fishing Pier Rebuild & Fundraising
Dear Mr. Duff,
Virginia Coastal Access Now (VCAN) thanks you and your family for providing the public access known as the Lynnhaven Fishing Pier for the last 50 plus years.
VCAN is a 501c3 non-profit organization established in 2006 to defend the public’s access to and for the protection of
Virginia coast. Our non-profit has and with your help continues to fight to preserve and enhance public access within
Virginia ’s coastal zone. To date, our effort has focused on ensuring the public has a place to park at public access locations so real public access is available for everyone. Beyond restoring the “access to the access”, VCAN is making every effort to enhance existing and create new public access where possible. For the latest on public access in
Virginia visit our website at www.vcanaccess.org.
As you, Steve Walker, VCAN’s Virginia Beach Local Rep., and I have discussed, VCAN is committed to supporting the rebuilding of the Lynnhaven Fishing Pier. This includes our non-profit’s “buy-a-board” donations and fundraising for the rebuild. In addition to the boards purchased online, enclosed is a check for $100 dollars to buy another board. This donation and board is from our friends at the Buckroe Improvement League and VCAN (which is what we’d like inscribed on this board). Good thing you got your router fixed as we hope to keep you very busy with it.
We look forward to working with you all and to the successful rebuild of the Lynnhaven Fishing Pier. Thank you again for your family’s efforts that have and will continue a lasting legacy of public access in Virginia Beach and to the
Lower Chesapeake Bay .
Sincerely, Mark Feltner, President Virginia Coastal Access Now cc: Steve Walker/VCAN
